He was the founding President of the Hotel Association of Nova Scotia, instrumental in the inception of the Culinary Institute of Canada in Prince Edward Island and a Board Member of the Advisory Committee from 1987 to 1994. In 1982 he was recognized as Hotelier of the Year by the Commercial Travellers Association (CTA), now the CPSA. Mr. Carson is currently Past Chair of the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) having served as its Chair between 2003 and 2006. A Director of the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) he was instrumental in the creation of Halifax’s successful marketing organization, Destination Halifax, which he served for two years as its first Chair. Mr. Carson was recognized by TIANS for his “outstanding effort in the service of visitors to Nova Scotia” with the Golden Hospitality Award in 2000. Throughout his career, Nicholas Carson has demonstrated exemplary leadership, not in only in his management of The Prince George Hotel, but also in his untiring pursuit of excellence in Halifax’s total tourism product, its image, marketing and accessibility. He has achieved this through his active and passionate involvement in all aspects of our Industry and in 2002 was greatly honoured with the prestigious Pinnacle Award as Hotelier of the Year by the Canadian Foodservice & Hospitality Industry. |
