Mick Matheusik is
a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and licensed
commercial realtor. He is the founding Principal
of TREC International Inc., a West Vancouver based
firm that specialises in Tourism, Retail & Economic
Consulting (www.trecinternational.com).
With 30 years of development and management consulting
experience, he has worked with most of the major
mixed use, retail, and commercial developers in
the Western Provinces plus many in other parts
of Canada, the U.S and internationally. He is also
Vice President of NAI Commercial Inc, (www.naicommercial.ca)
a national and global brokerage firm. Mick specializes
in the sale of unique resort and leisure based
properties and businesses.
As a management consultant,
Mick has personally conducted hundreds of ‘market
driven’ environmentally
sensitive development strategies, market and financial
analyses, highest & best use strategies, master
plans, and business plans for all types of resorts,
hotels, wellness centers, spas, eco-tourism ventures,
tourism attractions, resort retail villages, shopping
centres, new town centres, retailers, restaurant
and cultural facilities situated throughout Canada,
the US as well as overseas. Over the years he has
completed many strategies in emerging resort areas
and specialty businesses utilizing techniques and
uncovering market niches and opportunities that traditional
studies often miss. He has completed these for sites
ranging small commercial parcels and businesses to
entire resort communities and multi-faceted town
centres throughout Western Canada, the US, and at
least 10 other countries worldwide.
He provides strategic development
and management consultancy advice to a wide variety
of private, and public sector as well as First
Nation clients. Mick
Matheusik’s work in strategic planning and
design has been acknowledged by the Urban Land
Institute, ULI, a world renowned think tank organization
based in Washington, D.C. Some of his work
has been published in two of their Development
Handbooks (on Resorts and Shopping Centers) and
articles on resort retailing, spas and spa lifestyle
real estate are available in other publications
providing strategic advice to developers, associations,
government agencies, finance companies and other
hospitality professionals. He holds a Bachelor
of Environmental Studies from University of Waterloo
and a Masters of Science in Tourism & Recreation
Development & Marketing from Texas A&M
University.
