Peter Parmar is the Executive Director of Operations, with Nova Hotels Inc., an Alberta based chain of eleven hotels with properties in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and NWT. Peter Parmar is also the Principal of Solterra Immigration that deals with foreign workers and immigration matters. Peter currently serves as a Director on the Board of Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association.
Peter Parmar has a lengthy history and wide range of experience in management and development in the hospitality industry. His past assignments include being President and General Manager of Bedwell Harbour Hotel Ltd. (operating Poets Cove Resort and Spa, a luxury fractional resort on Pender Island, British Columbia) and General Manager of Fantasyland Hotel, Edmonton, Alberta.
A graduate of Cornell University’s General Manager Program, Peter’s educational background includes a Diploma in Hotel and Catering Operations from Highbury Technical College, Portsmouth, England and the designation of Certified Hotel Administrator from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. Faced with the challenge of the hospitality industry’s increasing reliance on temporary foreign workers, Peter undertook to educate himself in the intricacies of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Upon completion of the Immigration Consultant Diploma Program at Ashton College, BC, Peter successfully passed the ICCRC certification examination and attained the designation of Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC).
Peter’s other board experiences include serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alberta Restaurant and Foodservices Association; Vice President of the Association of Edmonton Convention Hotels; Director on the Board of Pender Island Chamber of Commerce; Director on the Board of the Tourism Association of Vancouver Island; and Director on the Board of Jasper National Park Chamber of Commerce.
