As
founder and president of Tralliance Corporation, Ron Andruff has
spearheaded the global .travel initiative from its initial concept
through today’s exciting reality. The travel industry’s
exclusive .travel Internet domain was confirmed by the Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) under his leadership,
and has since been embraced with enthusiasm by the global travel
industry. Tens of thousands of .travel domain names have been registered
to date, and the initiative is currently supported by more than
140 travel trade associations from 9 industry sectors and more than
73 countries.
With
more than 25 years of international marketing
experience, Andruff’s
knowledge of both technology and the travel
industry has helped fuel the success of the .travel domain. Today,
the .travel Internet space is widely utilized to provide synergies
within the largest online industry, as well as benefit millions
of consumers who shop and research travel products on the World
Wide Web.
In
1998, he made his mark in the travel industry when he co-founded
fare 1, Inc., a powerful business-to-trade Internet portal that
enables travel agents to quickly search for and provide clients
with the lowest available fares.
A
former NGO delegate to the United Nations’ Association for
World Education and a distinguished member of the World Travel & Tourism
Council (WTTC), Andruff has participated in numerous foreign affairs
briefings and research projects. In 1994, on behalf of the Foreign
Policy Association (FPA), Andruff undertook an eight-month assessment
of emerging electronic media and new technologies. He later authored
a widely acclaimed white paper, distributed by the FPA, that provided
a comprehensive analysis of the Internet and its widespread impact.
A
Canadian national and former professional hockey player, Andruff
currently serves on the board of directors of
the Waterbor Burn & Cancer
Foundation in New York City. He is a frequent speaker at
major travel industry conferences, traveling
more than 150 days a year to promote the .travel initiative.
