O'Neill, 57, is the Chairman of O'Neill Hotels & Resorts. Founded in 1994 and continuously owned by Rob and John O'Neill, O'Neill Hotels & Resorts Ltd. currently manages four hotels in British Columbia. These properties are: The Residence Inn by Marriott Whistler, The Westin Resort & Spa Whistler, The Westin Grand Vancouver, and The Inn at Westminster Quay in New Westminster. The Westin Resort & Spa
Whistler is a 2006 Conde Nast Gold list award
winner. From 1994 to 2005 Mr. O'Neill also owned
and oversaw the Whistler Lodging Company, which
was sold to Gaylord Entertainment's Resort Quest
division.
Mr.
O'Neill was the co-founder of Canadian Hotel
Income Properties, Real Estate Investment Trust (CHIP REIT) in 1997
and served as its President and CEO until September 1998. Mr. O'Neill
was also a founder of the Coast Hotel chain in 1972. In 1988, he sold
the chain to OKABE Co. of Tokyo and was retained to manage it until
1991 as President and CEO. Concurrently with the development and management
of the Coast Hotel chain, Mr. O'Neill was President and COO of National
Caterers Ltd. from 1977 to 1991. National Caterers Ltd. was Canada's
largest operator and supplier of remote site construction camps providing
food, lodging and support services for construction
workers in Canada's largest mega-projects.
