Cameron (Cam) Hawkins

For thirty years, Cameron (Cam) Hawkins has provided advisory services to governments across Canada, and to many of North America’s largest hospitality and tourism companies.  Cam’s consulting work over the past three decades has focused on lodging, foodservice, attractions, event planning, public assembly facilities and destination marketing organizations.

Prior to forming his own consulting firm in 1988, Cam was a partner in Canada’s largest leisure, hospitality and tourism consulting firm.  Since establishing his firm, Cam has been involved in the development or operation of most of Canada’s major convention centres, and in staging some of Canada’s largest and most successful events, including the G7 Economic Summit, Indy and Formula One races, World Youth Day in 2002, and the SARS Relief Concert in 2004, which brought 450,000 people to Downsview Park in Toronto to hear the Rolling Stones.

Cam served as advisor to Industry Canada on establishment of the Canadian Tourism Commission, and as an advisor to the Province of Ontario on Tourism Marketing.  Cam also served as the inaugural chair of the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership.  He has advised  hotel associations and DMOs across Canada on the implementation of Destination Marketing Fund programs and on governance and funding models for Destination Marketing Organizations.
