Charl Johnson is a graduate of the University of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He has worked for various firms as an Architectural Technologist, as well as having been the Principal of his own firm. With a technologist background, he understands the differences and complexities involved in producing construction documentation within various time constraints. With over 10 years experience as an Architectural Technologist and 13 years as an Architect, and having worked in South Africa, Namibia and Canada, Charl is able to draw upon various levels of expertise both creatively and competently for various types of projects.
As Director of Hospitality and Project Management, and Partner at BKDI Architects, one of the largest Architectural and Design firms in Western Canada, he is responsible for the Design, Project Management and ongoing relationships with clients to ensure a successful project that is on time and on budget. Charl is involved with several mixed use Hotels, Condo’s and Casino’s. Examples include The Grand Okanogan Resort and Hotel Complex in Kelowna, BC, several Private Hotels in Camrose, Canmore and Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Charl Johnson is a member of the Alberta Association of Architects, Architectural Institute of British Columbia, Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and a LEED® Accredited Professional that strongly believes in the environment and the Integrated Design Process. He also serves as Chairman for the Men’s Breakfast (Speakers Forum) at the Brentview Baptist Church and is a Member of The Calgary Chamber of Commerce. Charl has also served as director for The Calgary Olympic Rotary International Club.
