Jim is president, the Americas, for IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group plc) and a member of the Group Executive Committee.

As president, the Americas, Jim is responsible for the management, growth and profitability of the company’s largest operating region, spanning the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean. He is responsible for a portfolio of more than 3,000 hotels and resorts under the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites hotel brands.

Jim joins IHG from Global Hyatt Corporation, where he served as head of development, the Americas. In this role Jim led the development of all six Hyatt brands and Hyatt’s Franchise Owner Relations Group, which initiated Hyatt’s entry into full service and select service franchising.

Jim joined Global Hyatt in 2004 as senior vice president and led the acquisitions of AmeriSuites and Summerfield Suites, which subsequently led to the successful launches of Hyatt Place and Hyatt Summerfield Suites. In that role, Jim was responsible for all aspects of Global Hyatt’s Select Hotels Group, including operations and franchising, sales and marketing, design and construction, human resources and accounting and development for these two new Hyatt brands. In addition, Jim was tasked with strategic planning for the future international expansion of Hyatt Place.

Jim has 30 years of management experience in hotel operations, branding, development, and franchisee relations. Previous to Global Hyatt he served at the Marcus Corporation as president and chief operating officer, Baymont Inns and Woodfield Suites, where he led the transformation of the Baymont brand to the mid-price segment. Before that Jim was senior vice president, Hilton Hotels Corporation, where he served in a variety of senior management roles during his 12 years with the company. While at Hilton, he led the development and launch of Hilton Garden Inn. Earlier in his career Jim held a number of general management positions for Holiday Inn and Embassy Suites. Jim has been active in the industry serving a variety of leadership capacities with the AHLA and other hospitality organizations.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota.
