In 2007, Mr. Labatte founded Global Dimension Capital, Inc., a hotel real estate advisor formed for the purpose of investing capital in hotel acquisitions and development. In 2013, became President and Chief Executive Office of Talon International Inc. and Talon Luxury Collection (TLC) which owns Trump International Hotel and Residences in Toronto; in the $400 million plus valued project. TLC manages the Food and Beverage Operation. Neil is on the Board of Directors and an Investor in Pomeroy Lodging which is the premier hotel management and ownership company in northern Alberta. Neil is also an investor in Holloway a public hotel REIT listed on the TSX acting in concert with a major shareholder. In 2013, he joined the Board of Directors and became an Advisor for Balboa Land Investment Inc. a private real estate operations and development company. Since incorporation, Balboa has assembled a diverse portfolio of commercial office buildings and land holdings.
Mr. Labatte is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Legacy Hotels REIT, positions he held since June 1999 and March 2003, respectively. Neil has served as a Trustee of Legacy since April 2003. Mr. Labatte became a full time Legacy officer on January 1, 2005. Legacy was taken private September 2007 in a landmark CDN$2.5 billion transaction. He joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 1997 as Vice President Acquisitions, and from October 2001 to December 31, 2004 served as Senior Vice President, Real Estate and was a member of Fairmont’s Executive Committee.
Mr. Labatte possesses over 30 years of experience within the real estate sectors. For four years prior to joining Fairmont, Mr. Labatte was a founder, principal and board member of AEW Mexico Company, a Dallas, Texas private equity real estate investment management company formed with one of the largest institutional real estate private equity companies in the US. For the 12 years prior to the formation of AEW, he was involved in the hotel and real estate sectors in the capacity of investment banker and consultant.
Mr. Labatte attended the University of Utah and obtained his B.Sc. in Finance in 1986 and a M.Sc. in Finance in 1991.
Mr. Labatte served a term as director of the Real Property Association of Canada (formerly known as Canadian Institute of Public and Private Real Estate Companies) from 2003 - 2005.
He was a professional hockey player back in 1977-1982.
