Abid Gilani was a speaker on MAY 5, 2015 at the Canadian Hotel Investment Conference. He was a well-respected professional who will be remembered for his kindness and generosity. Based in New York City, Abid is part of a team that oversees the Bank’s specialized hospitality lending practice focused on well capitalized private hotel owner/operators, institutional real estate funds dedicated to lodging investments, public and private hotel REITs and C-Corps, and nationally or regionally recognized hoteliers. The geographic focus is on lodging financing opportunities in the U.S., Canada and U.K.
Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Abid was with Marriott International’s (“MI”) Global Treasury team that provides oversight and leadership on MI’s debt capital market transactions in support of new development, asset sales, asset management and property refurbishment programs. The group also identifies and arranges third party financing alternatives for potential MI hotel owners/investors and franchisees.
Previous to joining M.I., Abid was Managing Director of Real Estate, Gaming & Leisure for the Bank of Nova Scotia’s, San Francisco Agency. Abid had been with the Bank of Nova Scotia’s Real Estate lending group for 18 years (prior to San Francisco, he was with BNS in Calgary & Toronto). He was part of a team that was responsible for BNS’s commercial real estate lending activities for clients based in the Americas.
