Karanjit Bhugra is a seasoned finance professional that has enjoyed a broad array of experiences spanning mergers & acquisitions, corporate advisory, and corporate finance. As an investment banker for seven years, Karanjit has advised mid-cap and large-cap corporations on a variety of financial advisory matters. Karanjit began his investment banking career with BMO Capital Markets advising large North American and Asian based clients wishing to pursue cross-border M&A activity. At the boutique firm, Strateva Partners, Karanjit provided financial advisory services to small and mid-cap entities in relation to potential acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations, and restructuring initiatives. His experience has spanned a variety of industries, including: real estate, IT, manufacturing, metals & mining, clean technology, and retail.
Since early 2014, Karanjit has been with Roynat Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank of Nova Scotia, currently serving the role as Director, Structured Finance. Roynat is Canada's leading provider of specialized, innovative long-term capital and business solutions for mid-sized companies. In addition to being active in hotel financings, Karanjit specializes in the underwriting of complex transactions, including ones that involve: management/leveraged buy-outs, equity take-outs, subordinated debt, and cash flow/unsecured lending. Typical clients include entrepreneurs, private equity investors, family investment offices, and real estate holding companies.
Karanjit holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. Karanjit currently serves on the Board of Seva Food Bank, an initiative of Sikhs Serving Canada, and remains actively involved with a number of charitable organizations.
