Matthew Corrin

Founder | Freshii

While working in public relations in New York City for designer Oscar de la Renta, Corrin noted the many fresh food bars and was determined to successfully brand one. In 2005, at the age of 22, Founder and CEO Matthew Corrin, an Canadian native, opened the first Freshii location in Toronto, and won the prestigious ARC award for National Innovative Retail Concept of the Year from Cadillac Fairview Ltd and earned Freshii the title of Best New Retail Concept in Canada. Two years later, Freshii was named the 22nd Fastest Growing Company in Canada. In 2008, U.S.-based QSR Magazine dubbed Freshii "One To Watch."

In October of 2008, Corrin, was interviewed by Sir Richard Branson at an interactive entrepreneur's summit about the risks and rewards associated with owning and operating a fast growing business. "You can’t be on every corner on the street, but you can launch business initiatives that lets you be the convenient place of choice. We want to eliminate the excuse of people not eating fresh food because it isn’t convenient," Corrin noted, "I think the industry in general is pretty passive and we’re trying to become a direct sell." He was featured in National Restaurant Hospitality magazine’s 30 under 30 “Top Entrepreneurs”, was a 2008 Finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). Corrin lives between Chicago, where he launched the first U.S. Freshii location, and Toronto with his wife, daughter, and dog. Between a young child and over 300 restaurants under development, he is proud to have mastered the art of a 4-hour night sleep.
