Born in Drummondville in 1963, Jean Bédard is the President and CEO of Groupe Sportscene inc. since 1995.
Since his arrival, Groupe Sportscene revenues have almost doubled while the company has honed its leading expertise in multiple industry sectors. As a constructor, it has built and renovated the whole chain of Cages sports bar, then equipped outlets with industry-leading technology to support the expansion of the new La Cage – Brasserie sportive concept. It has also managed the Mont-Saint-Hilaire Sportscene Sports Complex and now oversees the exclusive exploitation of the P.F. Chang’s international brand locally. Finally, it has become known as a world-class event organizer.
Since 2006, Groupe Sportscene inc. has repeatedly ranked on the prestigious list of Canada’s 50 best-managed companies.
Jean Bédard is a hands-on executive who likes to shake the status quo. He sits on the Board of Directors of Restaurants Canada, a non-profit national association representing the Canadian foodservice sector. He has also been notably President of the Board of Directors of the Conseil des chaînes de restaurants du Québec (CCRQ) and President of the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA) Board of Directors.
In 2005, he had the honour of presiding the Organizing Committee for the 40th Edition of the Jeux du Québec finals — Winter 2005 in Saint-Hyacinthe.
Through La Cage – Brasserie sportive’s restaurant chain, Jean Bédard has been a key supporter for the next generation of elite athletes. Many of Canada’s top athletes have showed their trust in him by acting as spokespersons for the company before retiring (Alexandre Bilodeau, Étienne Boulay, Steve Bégin, Bruno Heppell & Philippe Laroche.)
