Derek Doke

President & CEO | FranWorks Group of Companies

Derek Doke has worked as an executive in the restaurant and hospitality sector for over 15 years. Early in his career he specialized in growing start-up brands into sizable multi-unit chains. He has bought and sold his interest in a number of growing brands through the past decade. Most notably his holding company FranWorks Franchise Corp. sold its 50% interest  in Opa! Souvlaki in 2006, a quick serve restaurant concept he helped grow from 2 to 50 locations.

A serial entrepreneur at heart, his company currently owns and operates a number of hospitality and retail related subsidiaries. His primary focus is to lead and grow Original Joe’s Restaurant and Bar, a 33 unit Western Canadian casual dining brand that has tripled its size in just over three years.   Original Joe’s continues to expand at a rate of approximately one store per month with annual system wide sales of over $60 million.

Derek is actively involved in the community both personally and through his business. Original Joe’s has just recently launched its “Community Give back Program” where 50 cents is donated from the sale of each pint of featured craft beer to local community causes.

Derek’s other interests include golf, hockey and coaching the sports teams of his two children.
