Barry Smith

President & CEO | Metro Toronto Convention Centre

Barry Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The Convention Centre ranks as Number # 1 in Canada. Prior to joining the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Barry was Vice President of Operations and General Manager of ORCA Bay Sports & Entertainment in Vancouver. Before managing General Motors Place, Barry was with the British Columbia Pavilion Corporation as their Senior Vice President & General Manager responsible for the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre. Prior to that he managed B. C. Place Stadium and also worked out of the corporate offices as the Chief Financial Officer.

Barry currently serves on the following boards:

• Director of Tourism Toronto and is also a member of the Executive Committee
• Chair of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Foundation Board
• Director of Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR)
• Director of Toronto Entertainment District BIA

Other boards that Barry has served on in the past:
• Director of Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) and Vice Chair for the Board
• Director of Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC)
• Director of Tourism Vancouver
• Director of Crestbrook Forest Products
• Director of YMCA Vancouver

Barry was educated at Queens University earning a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree graduating in 1979 and is a Certified Management Accountant.

Barry is married to Kathy Mundy and they have three children.
