Diana Conconi

As Chief Communications Officer for Creative Initiatives, Inc./The Agency Nextdoor, Diana is a senior strategist and writer specializing in marketing and corporate communications.

Her areas of expertise include travel/tourism, food/nutrition, consumer packaged goods, house and home, automotive and retail. In addition to her work in consumer marketing, she also has managed clients needs in business to business marketing.

With more than 25 years of experience, she has held senior positions at large, multinational public relations firms, a mid-sized Canadian agency and has counseled clients in the US and Canada as the owner of her own agency for a total of 12 years.

Coming to Canada in 1999, Diana founded the global travel tourism practice for Fleishman-Hillard, an international PR and communications firm headquartered in the US. She has managed a number of tourism accounts including: Costa Rica Tourism; Marriott Hotels of Canada; City of Toronto; SARS Recovery program; Egypt Tourism; Travel Alberta International; Mexico Tourism; Cathay Pacific; and Etihad Airways. She is currently working with the Toronto 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games.

Diana began her career in Washington, DC where she picked up a valuable media relations and public affairs education that has served her throughout her career. It was here that she caught the travel/tourism/hospitality bug as a member of the communications team responsible for re-opening the historic Willard Hotel after decades of decay.

She founded her first agency in 1988, specializing in hospitality, tourism and entertainment marketing, media relations and general corporate communications/public relations. Her clients included: The DC Convention & Visitors Bureau - Committee to Promote Washington, The Watergate Hotel; Wyndham Hotels; the Ramada Renaissance and the Four Seasons hotel in Washington, DC; and The Classic Collection of Hotels. Additionally, her national restaurant accounts included Morton's of Chicago; California Pizza Kitchen; Buca di Beppo; Dock Street Brewing Company; Louise's Trattoria; Silver Diner; Rock Bottom Restaurants (District Chop House); Muer's Seafood; Jean-Louis and Palladin by Jean-Louis at The Watergate Hotel; Lespinasse; and Sam & Harry's Steakhouse.

Diana was named as Deputy Director of Marketing on the 52nd Presidential Inaugural Committee (for President Bill Clinton).

Diana has also served as Parliamentarian of the Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC) Board and is a certified Social Media Strategist.
