Leah Leslie

Director of Sales & Marketing | JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa

Leah Leslie’s career in hospitality has spanned twenty-six years and a range of disciplines, brands and locations across Canada.

October 2007 brought Leah back from Halifax to her childhood home, Muskoka, where she lives with her husband Steve and works as Director of Sales & Marketing for Canada’s first JW Marriott, The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa.

Before she embarked on a career in hospitality, Leah was a nightclub singer. From 1975 to 1985, she travelled across Canada and the US from the Maritimes to the west coast, always with her guitar, often with her dog and occasionally with other musicians.

Leah’s early musical influences included Joni Mitchell, David Essig, Stan Rogers and Gordon Lightfoot. As she played and listened more, and her career as a singer developed, she added blues and jazz to her personal songbook… especially works performed by greats such as Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan.

She keeps music in her life by performing for family, friends and occasionally in front of a less captured audience. Leah is on the board of directors of the Muskoka Lakes Music Festival, now known as “Muskoka Chautauqua,” and actively promotes the importance of music and the Arts as driving forces in a successful tourism economy.

Over the years, Leah has had the privilege of crossing paths with many extraordinary Canadian musicians, some who have played “Voyageur” and some who left us before they had the chance. The opportunity for Leah to play the iconic guitar of Jowi Taylor’s Six String Nation vision, was a reminder to her of how connected we all are, by music and by the people and geography of Canada. The spirit of “Voyageur” is the spirit that binds us all.
