Howard Blank is a well respected and acknowledged ambassador of gaming and entertainment across North America who has devoted more than half of his life to the premier Canadian Gaming company, the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation.
As a young, energetic newspaper reporter who was sent to cover Charity Gaming at the PNE, Howard got the opportunity to meet Adrian Thomas; a GCGC Executive who saw Howard’s potential and offered him a job. Soon after, Howard started spinning the money wheel at the 1984 Pacific National Exhibition and never looked back.
Over the past 20 years, Howard held numerous positions within the Great Canadian team and today he is the Vice President of Media, Entertainment and Responsible Gaming. His extensive portfolio includes being the company’s spokesperson and media liaison as well as the principal entertainment executive who has opened two state-of-the-art show theatres in lower mainland – The River Rock Show Theatre and The Red Robinson Show Theatre.
Howard commands a team of 80 dedicated professionals who proudly showcase outstanding entertainment and make sure that when stars such as Chris Rock, Diana Ross, Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards among many others come to Great Canadian Casinos professionalism and perfection is executed.
Besides being passionate about gaming and entertainment, Howard takes pride in being a movie producer, actor and a technical advisor. Since the 80’s, Howard has been involved in over 25 film productions which include: Rocky IV, Reindeer Games, Walking Tall, Blade-Trinity, Two for the Money, Blond and Blonder and many others.
In 2006, as a symbol of recognition for his continued contribution to the gaming and entertainment industry, Howard was awarded the Display of Excellence Award by the Canadian Gaming Industry. However, the Excellence Award is only one of many rewards which he has received for his outstanding contributions and knowledge. In 2008, Howard received the Paul Harris Fellow Award which is Rotary’s highest valued reward. He takes pride in being a board member for the Canadian Gaming Association and is an active ambassador for GO2 Tourism which is BC’s top Tourism agency. As a dedicated member of the David Foster Foundation, Howard has worked on numerous Foster Gala events and supported the charity which helps families of children who require organ transplants. Since he was a teenager, he has been involved with Variety, The Children’s Charity and today has the honour of serving on the board and being a part of that community.
