Paul de La Durantaye
General Manager | Hotel Le Germain & Maple Leaf Square
Paul de la Durantaye joined Groupe Germain Hospitalité in 2009 bringing with him over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Pulling from his international experience – from Monaco and beyond – and drawing on his multi-lingual charms, he leads a 200-member team renowned for its impeccable hospitality at both Le Germain boutique-hotels in Toronto. Since the opening of Hôtel Le Germain Maple Leaf Square in 2010, Paul can often be spotted on his spearmint-green Vespa zipping between the two properties to oversee all aspects of sales, operations, strategic direction and financial results.
Thanks to his tight focus on service, both hotels consistently place at or near the top of the leader board in Toronto on sites like Trip Advisor and Sherman’s Travel, and in consumer media publications. The difference he brings to warm hospitality is unencumbered creativity. Paul knows his guests to the point that he can anticipate their individual needs, wants and standards for great service. He has a keen eye for details that matter whether guests are travelling for business or pleasure.
Prior to joining the Germain family business, Paul spent two decades with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in progressive operational positions. He played key roles in the re-branding and integration of acquired hotels into the Fairmont brand as well as during new hotel openings. From 2005 to 2008, Paul also managed a major capital renovation program for Fairmont Monte Carlo while maintaining the daily hotel operations.
Paul is an active member of the Advisory Board for Ryerson University’s Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management as well as of the Board of Directors of the Greater Toronto Hotel Association.
