Morgan Da Rocha
Management Trainee | Sheraton Gateway Hotel
The love of travel, experiencing culture, and building lasting connections with others is what first attracted Morgan to the hospitality industry. However, it is his performing arts background and the industry’s inherent connection with presentation and showmanship that feeds his desire to “be on-stage” and keeps him inspired and motivated. With 6 years of restaurant experience working at companies such as Moxie’s and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Ryerson, Morgan actively works to bridge the gap between industry and academia in efforts to improve current workplace processes and implement new ideas. His dedication to personal and process improvement allows him to actively inspire others around him to achieve their goals. As a Management Trainee at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel he participates in many different activities in each of the various departments located within the property. These roles range from managing the floor during busy revenue periods, to creating, planning and implementing programs to widen product offering and increase revenues. This role has allowed Morgan to utilize his strong interpersonal skills while working with a team to dazzle and delight guests. His current position has exposed him to many different aspects of the hotel business. This role continually provides him with the opportunity to tailor his own personal skill set in efforts to achieve his goal of becoming a high-level hotel executive.
