Having spent over 40 years in the hotel and gaming business, Sir David retired as Chief Executive of Hilton Group in 2007 having sold Hilton International to Hilton Hotels Corporation for £4 billion and launching Ladbrokes as a standalone public company. Prior to this David was Chief Executive of Stakis , which he joined in 1990 and sold some 9 years later to Ladbrokes for £1.2 billion. David's previous experience included Executive President Worldwide Marketing for Hilton, Managing Director of Hilton UK and prior to that, some 17 years in various hotel positions around the world with Grand Metropolitan.
Knighted in 2006 for services to hotel and catering industry. Sir David Michels is currently Chairman of Michels & Taylor and London & Capital. He is also a board member of Strategic Hotels and Resorts, Jumeirah Hotels, The Savoy and Miroma and is currently President of both The Tourism Alliance and The Institute of Hospitality. Previous roles have included that of Deputy Chairman of both Marks & Spencer and easyJet, Board member of British Land, RAB Capital, Arcadia and Paramount Restaurants and David is also a past President of the British Hospitality Association.
