Jon Mamela

Chief Marketing Officer & SVP Marketing & Sales | Destination Canada

Jon believes without a doubt that he has THE coolest marketing role in the entire country.  He puts on the “Team Canada” jersey everyday leading a dynamic and passionate group of marketers based in 11 international markets that are responsible for building Canada’s tourism brand and inspiring travelers to see Canada as cool…not cold!.  

Jon joined Destination Canada in 2013 and he has been guiding the organization’s transformation to become a global tourism leader through a content-first marketing mission and integrated storytelling strategies.  Through the power of leveraging digital centric eco-systems with partners, Canada is breaking all-time records in international visitation and tourism expenditures. He currently oversees business units including Global Marketing & Communications, International Markets, Consumer & Market Intelligence, Business Events Canada (MC&IT), and Strategic Partnerships.

Before joining Destination Canada, Jon’s career experience includes Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Travel Alberta, and Procter & Gamble.

Born in Chicoutimi Quebec, and raised in Saskatchewan it comes with no surprise that he enjoys he bleeds green for his beloved Roughriders football team.  Jon is proud to be a graduate of Bethany College, West Virginia with a Bachelor of Science, Chemistry degree and holds a MBA from Miami University of Ohio.
