Robin began her career working at the House of Commons in the Prime Minister’s Office. After working as a lobbyist in Ottawa, she moved to Toronto and spent 16 years in association management, working for two of Canada’s prominent business associations – Restaurants Canada and Food & Consumers Products of Canada.

In 2005, Robin joined the Ontario government as an Assistant Deputy Minister to lead the merger of the international trade and investment functions in the Ministry of Economic Development & Trade. She then was named President & CEO of the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, where she worked with the industry and Ministry of Tourism colleagues to increase the profile of tourism on the government’s agenda and help improve Ontario’s competitiveness. The government’s “Discovering Ontario Report” challenged the industry to double tourism receipts over the course of a decade, with an action plan that included the creation of 13 new tourism regions. With a love for new initiatives, Robin became founding CEO to start up Niagara’s regional tourism organization in 2011.

Working with the Tourism Partnership of Niagara’s Board, Robin developed the Powerhouse Strategy, which included a vision for scheduled passenger service at the Niagara District Airport. Robin now serves as Vice-Chair on the Niagara District Airport Board and was delighted to be part of the team that secured schedule service between Toronto and Niagara with Greater Toronto Airways, beginning in September 2016.
Robin is Chair of Bravo Niagara – Festival of the Arts, Board Member of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario, and Advisory Council Member of Willowbank School of Restoration Arts.
Robin lives in Niagara-on-the-Lake with her husband Wayne Root and has twin sons Dylan and Brennan. She is a certified yoga instructor and can be found teaching outdoor classes in Niagara-on-the-Lake during the summer months.
