Guy Turcotte was born in 1952 (Wainwright, Alberta); graduated from NAIT (1972); completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering (1975) at the University of Tulsa; and an MBA degree (1976) at the University of Alberta.
Guy is the Chairman, Founder, President and CEO, and sole shareholder in Stone Creek Resorts, a privately-owned company which owns two major real estate developments. The Silvertip project includes a 700 housing unit development, a world-class golf course, and a 1200-unit resort village as part of a $1.5 billion resort. The Eagle Ranch project is located in Invermere, British Columbia, and includes an 18-hole championship golf course, as well as residential real estate to be developed over the next 10 years.
Mr. Turcotte founded Chauvco Resources Ltd. in January 1981. Chauvco Resources was sold to Pioneer Natural Resources Limited of Houston, Texas in 1997 for approximately $1.3 billion.
In September 1997, Mr. Turcotte founded and created Fort Chicago Energy Partners L.P. Mr. Turcotte was President and CEO until 2002 and was Chairman from September 1997 until December 2007 when he retired from the Board. The market value of Fort Chicago was $1.6 billion at the time of Guy’s retirement.
Mr. Turcotte was a founder of Western Oil Sands Inc. and acted as Chairman until October 18, 2007. On this date, Western was sold to Marathon Oil of Houston, Texas for $6.3 billion.
Mr. Turcotte is currently a member of the World Presidents' Organization as well as the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
