Gilles Verret was appointed Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Communications of Destination Canada in January 2015.
Gilles brings more than 20 years of experience in government at both federal and provincial levels as well as in the private sector. He has worked in public affairs, government relations, public policy as well as program delivery in various federal agencies and departments in Ottawa, including Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, Service Canada, Natural Resources Canada and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
For 7 years, he worked as a government-relations consultant, leading investment projects on behalf of private sector clients. Later, he served as the representative of the government of New Brunswick in Ottawa, where he facilitated awareness and sought federal support for provincial priorities.
Following his family’s move to Vancouver in 2012, he became the Area Director for the Lower Fraser Area at Fisheries and Oceans Canada, then moved to the Regional Director of Communications role a year later.
Gilles holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from l’Université de Moncton.
